Fiona Maris
I started practising Pilates 20 years ago on the advice of an osteopath. I suffered an injury during a yoga class as I am hypermobile (which I didn’t realise at the time!)
This was also at a particularly stressful period in my life and I quickly realised that during the Pilates class each week not only was I exercising my whole body and feeling stronger but the breathing, focus and concentration required was having a huge impact on my stress levels. Having that hour a week just for me meant that I could cope better, sleep easier and overall had a positive impact on my life.
I then started going twice a week then three times a week until I wanted to share my love of Pilates and become a teacher.
I am still as passionate today about my Practice. I love teaching fun and challenging classes using a range of small equipment to improve technique. Variety is the key to ensure my clients never get tired of doing the same old exercises as I’m constantly updating my repertoire by attending a range of courses.
